Gaetano Letizia plays a modern sounding electric guitar in the tradition of Larry Coryell in this swinging trio setting with Mark Gonder/dr and Kip Reed/b. The tunes are all his own, ranging from a deeply grooved “Back & Blue” to a funky “Punch Drunk” with Gonder supplying a rich back beat. Reed adds rich counter points and thoughts on many of the pieces such as on “Blue Ionisphere” while giving fragrant framework to the dreamy “Wandering”. The team digs in well on “Expanding Reality” with the leader giving droplets of ides on ”Chartreuse”, with the strings glowing on the romantic “Paradise Found”. Nice mix of cohesion and rabbit trails.–
