Mixing poetry with ambient keyboards, Fella Cederbaum delivers messages of reflection, warning and wisdom like a news editor with a musical heart. There’s a tango’d synthesizer supporting messages to unite on “Truth Tango”, while fake news is lambasted on “News”. Some Nintendo tones support Cederbaum on the title tune while dark warnings take place on “Fear” and “The Great Offense”. Bohemian rhapsodies?
Recorded in concert in January 9, 2022, Maria Jacobs is caught in concert with Rock Wehrmann/p, Bryan Thomas/b and Jamey Haddad/dr for a fun evening of covers and originals. Her bop tones are intact on a relaxing read of “Up Jumped Spring” is fun and frisky on “Moody’s Mood For Love”. She gets creative with Ben E King’s “Stand By Me” by giving it a slow and dreamy pace, while she snaps to “You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To”. There are also a couple studio tracks, with her getting mellow on “Blue Moon” and muscular on her own “Pale Moon, Blue Sky” with a larger supporting cast. Eager to please.
There’s a three song ep from Sarah Bernadette, each one emitting a different mood and color of the kaleidoscope. Will the real Sarah please stand up? “Wish I Didn’t Hate You” is an indie sounding loose blues with edgy guitar and horns, made for the bohemian crowd. “Do You Know What Betrayal Is” features piano teamed with grating vocal spews and venom, both contrasted with a “How Badly” that is a gorgeously delicate and sensitive tone poem. Depending upon which one shows up on the date will determine the compatibility.
