Drummer Duduka Da Fonseca leads a post bop team of Vinicius Gomes/g, Helio Alves/p and Gili Lopes/b through a mix of originals and jazz covers. The team is upbeat and jovial on “Samba Novo” with Da Fonseca rumbling on the bopping “Transition”. Gomes and Lopes dig in deep for “Lilia” and Alves gallops around the drummer’s sticks on “Exodo”. Lovely brushes caress Lopes’ bass on the pretty “Bebe” with the team rocks on during “Viver De Amor”. Gomes’ nylon strings are evocative for a tender “West 83rd Street” with the team getting intricate and kinetic on the modal “Dona Marie”. A multi-angled quartet.
