Joseph Herbst Sextet: This is Our Environment

Sermonettes, narrations, poems and lectures about social/environmental issues are used as a platform by saxist/composer Joseph Herbst and his team of SJWs Luther Allison/p, Liany Mateo/b, Peter Martin/g, Zach McKenney/dr and Evan Taylor/tp-fh. Instrumentals such as “The say There are Beautiful Trees” mix post bopping harmonies of the horns with dynamic pulsations and Herbst’s bright horn, while his tenor teams with the dark muted trumpet and electic guitar on the loose “Solastalgia”. Lectures  by Cynthia Thia Sharpe” on “Mama E” and “RaShad Eas on “LEGACY” are backed by bohemian and dark tones with messages to “get back to” the basics in life. “Make No Cents”, on the musical side, is rich, dramatic and  panoramic while “Visions of Freedom” uplifts with modern trumpet and optimism, making up for the ominous Yexandra yex Diaz” on “Erring of the Revolution” .
