Improvisations are rich with Karolina Almgren in concert playing sax with Svante Henryson/cel, Martina Almgren/dr, Malin Almgren/dr and Isa Savbrant during a concert from November 2018. Her solo outing on alto is lyrical on “Uti Var Hage” while her soprano gets glassy on “Visby” with Almgren’s glockenspiel. Spacious moments with deep strings get modal on “Mahjong” and a elliptical take of “In A Sentimental Mood” with the team trudging out a dirge-like “Visa Efter Torn Erik.” A closing tune has an intimate conversation with soprano and bass. She bares her soul with deep dark thoughts throughout the loosely knit wardrobe.
