Guitarist Bernie Mora gives a funkfest with his LA Cats of Charles Godfrey/dr, Daniel Becker/b, Doug Webb/sax-fl, Korey Allen/key and Lee Thornburg/tp-tb along with some special guests on this collection of originals. The team rocks hard and sounds a bit like Steely Dan as Webb’s soprano punches on “Mon Cheri” and is urgen on “Commando Roll.” Godfrey gives a Purdy good impression of “Roxanne’ for the beat of “No Agenda” and gives an AWB soulfest for “Pale Moon Funk.” The horns drive like mavericks on “Cup a Joe” and a clever Hawaiian chant by Leilani Rivera Low leads out in front for the breezy opus “It’s A Honu World.” Dancing shoes are a must for this one.
