Leader Franco Ambrosetti plays trumpet and flugelhorn with the strong team of allstars in guitarist John Scofield, drummer Jack DeJohnette, bassist Scott Colley and pianist Uri Caine on this humming post bop fest. Ambrosetti’s horn squeezes out the notes like he’s spitting out watermelon seeds to DeJohnette’s military cadence on the swinging “One For The Kids” and his horn is lovely on the easy pulse of “Silli’s Long Wave.” Scofield moves Wes for the bouncy take of “On Green Dolphin Street” and digs deep with DeJohnette on the suave “Silli’s Waltz.” Ambrosetti’s horn floats over Caine’s wave on “Milonga” and the team gives heat like a Bunsen Burner for “Try Again.” If this team goes on the road, don’t miss it!!!
