Dreamy landscapes are painted by the piano of Julia Hulsmann, leading a team of the breathy tenor produced by Uli Kempendorff and the intuitive rhythms of bassist Marc Muellbauer and drummer Heinrich Kobberling.
Gentle musing predominated as on the pretty read of “This Is Not America” while she splashes like a gentle wave on “Inschub”.” The team is fun and kinetic with Kempendorff at his most brightly toned on “If I Had A Heart” and the team cascades as Koberling coaxes the team along on “Colibri 65.” Fluffy tenor nimbus clouds hover on “The Art of Failing” and “Wrong Song” with some sharp angles cut out on “No Game.” Atmospheres on the horizon with a few bolts of thunder.
