Jason Harnell: Total Harnage

OK-you’ve got Jason Harnell (is there anyone hiding in the background here?) on drums and vocals, using both in a wide girth of description. The twelve “Songs” may include titles you recongnize like “ Moon River” and “When You’re Smiling,” but what you get is a bunch of sticks and drums thrashing around like John Bonham in a bad mood, bizarre vocals that are doo wop on steroids and an attitude of “let’s see if this sticks to the wall.” A madcap “Prelude and Fugue No. 2 in C Minor” actually has a theme with piano and ‘variations,” and “Lullaby” has some weird voices that would make The Persuasions faint, but the rest is just thunder and lightning bolts flying around. Run for cover!
