Italian pianist Enrico Pieranunzi leads a trio with Thomas Fonnesbaek/b and Ulysses Owens Jr/dr through a dozen original tunes. There are a handful of “Free Visions” that come off as intuitive conversations, as there are moments of peek-a-boo in “1”, rapid runs on “2”, soft subtleties in “3” and rumblings in “4”. More concrete themes are felt as the team does a bouncy shuffle on”One For Ulysses” and Pieranunzi shows his funky side on “Alt Kan Ske (More Valentines)” with Fonnesbaek delivering a nice line on “Anne Blomster Sang.” Pieranunzi’s touch is glassy and clean, well articulated and chimes well on moments as on the elegant “Night Waltz.” Dashes of vintage Bill Evans.
