Violinist Aaron Weinstein swings that thing with guitarist Matt Munisteri and bassist Tom Hubbard on this hot’cha mix of two step stompers from Tin Pan Alley along with his own compositions. The team mixes the gypsy spirit of Django Reinhardt’s days with Stephane Grappelli with the American drive of Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang. The team is joyfully relaxed as they sway through standards like “Indiana” and “Chicago,” with a laconic intro leading to a rapid race to the finish line on “Chinatown, My Chinatown.” Weinstein shows his pizzicato talents creating droplets with the team on a lovely “Charlotte” with he and Munisteri picking and grinning for “Hindustan.” The team Djams like Django on “The Zabar Shuffle” and sound gracefully old timey on a nostalgic “Nola.” This one’s fun one, drink it in with a mint julep!
