Pianist Gary Husband, usually associated with the likes of Mike Stern, Alan Holdsworth and John McLaughlin, forms a duo with guitarist Mark Wingfield, who brings his guitar and “soundscapes” into the studio for eight impressively accessible improvs. Husband supplies rich lines and lurking pulses for Wingfield’s spacious guitar sounds and effects for dreamy pieces such as “Kittiwake” and the sensuously languid “Silver Sky.” The effects from Wingfield create drapery akin to a soundtrack on the dark title track, and the two create gentle melodies together on “The Golden Thread.” And the flowing “”Tryfan.” Lots of pastels, sunsets and rich hues melding within and without.
