Exciting and exotic journeys take place in this series of duets between Kevin Hays on piano (mostly) and Lionel Loueke contributing World Wide guitar sounds and wide ranging vocals. Strings and piano dance with joy on “Violeta” with spacious and serene horizons glisten on the title track, with bouncy bopping featured on the kinetic “Ghana Boy.” Loueke’s voice is a force of nature, using it either as a percussive instrument on the festive “Veuve Mallene” and hip “Aviva Dance” giving celestial harmonics and ethereal soundings along with acoustic guitar on “Milton” or sighing like a hovering fog on “Loving You.” Hays sings on the funky and tensile “Sweet Caroline” and gives romantic piano moods as he serenades on the rich “Feuilles-O.” A wonderful collection of well framed etchings from afar.
