Frencesca Prihasti plays piano and leads a sextet of Nic Vardenaga/g, Drew Gress/b, Josh Roberts/dr, Dave Pietro/as-ss, Mike Rodriguez/tp-fh and Alan Ferber/tb through seven melodic and harmonious originals. Her touch on the piano gives a dash of Horace Silver influence, particularly on the shadowy trio “The Emperor” as well as the pulsating “The Wind Chimes” with her touch sublime for Ferber’s warm trombone on “Stargazer.” Pietro blows an easy blues for “Johnny” and swoons on the charming “Verano” and Roberts cruises with confidence during the sleek “Time Traveler.” Impressive charts and friendly lyricism.
