Rich textures and melodies are produced by the duo of Albare, who plays a myriad of guitars, and Phil Turcio, bringing in an equal number of keyboards and programs. The moods range from an upbeat African temper for “Time Travel” to pretty and soft themes such as “Magic Times” and the genteel “Bullish.” Albare’s guitar is calm and warm, soulful on “Funny Clouds” and reverent during “The Hymn.” Tim Ries brings his tenor sax and Bernard Fowler adds vocals through a VOX on the R&B ish “I Say” and the two get a nice gospel feel for a clever take of The Eagles’ “Desperado.” Accessible and invitingly smooth.
