Electric bassist Matt Skellenger creates some clever harmonics as he mixes pedal steel, brass and exotic pulsations on this wide ranging album. The team of trombonist Adam Bartczak and trumpeter Matt Reid makes for extra punch as on the funky “Showtime” and with Dave Miller’s drum, the team gets into an AWB groove on a funky “13 Past 11” augmented by Glenn Taylor’s steel guitar line. Taylors strings gives an almost C&W feel quite cleverly on the swinging “Peyton Place” as well as teaming with Andy Skellenger’s tablas on the mixing of cultures on “Floating.” Skellenger keeps it all together with a rich mix of textures on his electric bass while adding a wide palate of tonic atmospheres and pulses. Rewardingly creative.
