Kid Creole and the Coconuts: Live in Paris 1985

Led by August Darnell, Kid Creole and the Coconuts was one of the quintessential 80s bands, reflecting the energy and hedonism of the era. Ubiquitous in their touring, they put on a show that was both musical and visual, with musicians, vocalists and dancers with attitude exchanging the spotlight. This concert from 1985 has them on the heels of their In Praise of Older Women and Other Crimes album, including songs such as “Endicott” and “Caroline Was A Dropout” and going back to their earlier material such as “Table Manners.” The band is in an energetic mood, and Darnell is vociferous and humorous on pieces like “No Fish Today” and “The Lifeboat Party.” Total party hardy and the audience riding into a calypso’d sunset.
