A mix of Carol Liebowitz on piano and voice along with Birgitta Flick’s warm tenor make for a rich and pastoral album on this collection of mostly originals. In a combination that could have lead to frisky cacophonies or solemn introspection, the two are wonderfully lyrical and communicative. Flick’s soft tenor floats over ivory droples on “Moon” and sighs in repose on “Portrait.” The two create impressioned moments as Flick gets higher pitched on “Hummingbird” and delivers a solo ara on “Marionette.” Liebowitz provides rich spaces on “ Jasmine” and is gloriously melancholic while sining on “You Don’t Know What Love Is.” Soft and relaxed tones for “Sehnsucht” lead the way for uncluttered beauty for “Reflections.” This one’s a charmer!
