Guitarist and composer Rafal Sarnecki mixes rock moods with free thinking jazz and voice on this album that looks for a compass with Lucas Pino/ts-bcl, Bogna Kicinska/voc, Glenn Zaleski/p, Rick Rosato/b and Colin Stranahan/dr. Dark and assertive guitar teams with hard hitting drums on pices like “Solar Eclipse” while the team gets funky on the bluesy “Dadaism.” A three part “Little Dolphin” mixes dreamy voice, tenor sax and dark guitar dashes before some floating vocals and guitar drift on a bopping “Zhongguo.” Things get herky jerky on the pulsating “Hyrdrodynamics” and the team feels tentative on “Homo Sapiens.” All throughout, the moods are long on sepia tones, strong on rock beats and bright tones and looking for themes and melodicism.
