Nothing like good ol’ Americana…
Liz Frame comes across as a well traveled soul as she mixes folksy rock with some country with Patrick Chamberlin/g, Lynne Taylor/b, Pete Walsh/dr and guests Duke Levine, Tim Phillips, Pete Iannitto, Ken Clark and Ben Alleman on some personal originals. Honky tonking Nashville with twanging strings have Frame in a minstrel mood on “I Used to Be Your Slave” while she takes you to the Spanish Quarter with some accordion on the serenade “She’s Made of Light and Love.” Moody strings and shadows are sepia toned for “I Don’t Worry No More” while some rock boogie for the strutting “Lookin’ For A Lonely Man” and the fun “Grown Children.” She knows how to tell a story, as well as paint a Cumberland Gap portrait.
Steve Krase growls on both vocals and harmonica with a rollicking team of David Carter/g, Rock Romano/b, Tamara Williams/dr, James Gilmer/perc and guests Brian Jack/acc, Mike Vee/rubbd and Kenan Ozdemir/g for some sweaty blues. Krase’s harp snarls on a raw Chicago blueser “Just Waitin’ On My Brand New Baby” while riding over a Bo Diddley wave on “I Don’t Mind.” Both voice and Hoener are raspy as the guitars go ZZ Top riffing on “All In The Mood” while the tam gest swampy for “Irene Irene.” The team snaps with 50s lines for the swinging boogie of “Settin’ the Woods on Fire” and the happy “blame It All On Love” with some harrowing and stark moods evoked on the ominous “Nobody Loves Me.” The boogie man is on the hunt!
