Twelve gorgeous strings summit together as electric guitarist Jonathan Kriesberg teams up with nylon man Nelson Veras for a mix of originals and clever covers. The team sounds classy as they take on Chick Corea’s “Windows” and create a rich pastel of blues for Charles Mingus’ “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat,” making is sound as if it were written for two guitars in mind. The gents have fun with a playfully angular read of the bopper “Bye-Ya” and give tensile abstractions on the elliptical “Face on the Barroom Floor” and rich folk textures for “Milagre Dos Peixes.” As for originals, gentle pastoral droplets are evocative on “Lina Rising” and clean jazz lines swing for “Until You Know.” These guys play like long time friends in a cozy conversation. Lots of rewards.
