The trio of Alex Chadsey/p-key, Farko Dosumov/b and Jeff Busch/dr-perc create rich Afro-Cuban pulses on this rich collection of material. The team has an elegant flow to their cadence, teaming with ethereal voiced Chava Mirel on the glistening “Zephyr” as well as on the funky “Subway” as both Chadsey and Dosumov go electric. A read of Chick Corea’s “Spain” has Mirel in dreamy form as well as the clip clop rhythm gives the tune a folksy atmosphere, whereas Dosumov’s voice on elegant “Bosphorus” is perfect Iberian passion. Rich interplay and romantic lyricism carry the day on this strong outing.
