The exciting band Tribu consists of David Casini/perc-vib, Ruben Salcido/as-ss-fl, Marcus Lopez/b-perc, Mario Salomon/dr-perc, Jesus Gonzalez/cong-perc and Steve McQuarry/key through a collection of percolating originals. Casini’s vibes adds extra dimension and textures to the volcanic percussion for Salcido’s alto on the upbeat pieces such as “El Matador” and “WW” while Salcido’s flute floats over the strutting groove on “Sleep On It.” Some exotic moods slither to Salcido’s soprano on “Afroniki” while McQuarry’s piano and synth samba during a festive “I’m On My Way” and the team sashays on a soulful “Me Quedo Con Ti.” Lopez’s electric bass adds some funky to “El Hombre” and digs a deep groove for the warm salsa mist of “El Tonto.” This is one for the Friday Night Cruise-El Matador is a killer!
