Consisting of Alvaro Vieito/g, Xan Campos/p, Luis Salto/b and Jesus Pazos/dr, Boreas delves into the Beatles songbook and delivers fresh readings of Fab Four hits. Most intriguing is the lack of intimidation of “classic” versions of these songs, as the team snaps through a medium tempo take of “Eleanor Rigby” with some strong electric guitar work by Vieito, while pazos and Campos groove through a tricky modal read of “And I Love Her.” Vieito’s cool guitar stops and starts on a clver bopping lead by Pazos’ ride cymbal on “Can’t By Me Love” and Salto’s bass is slick as they build up a boogie on “Come Together.” Acoustic guitar works well with a traditional American feel of “In My Life” and Yesterday” with the band sizzling on an exciting “Till There Was You.” New wine in old wineskins for this one.
