THE REAL SOUL MEN…The Original Blues Brothers Band: The Last Shade of Blue Before Black

With original members Steve Cropper/g and Blue Lou Marini/sax, the Blues Brothers reunite one more (last?) time, and they sound like STAX Records never closed down. Bobby Harden, Rob Paparozzi and Tommy McDonnell share the vocals for the snappy rhythm and steamy horn section for vintage tunes like “Baby What You Want Me To Do” and “Got My Mojo Workin” while there are also more cameo appearances here than an Agatha Christie movie.

Memphis legend Eddie Floyd turns the band into the Fabulous Flames on extremely funky pieces “Don’t Forget About James Brown” and “On A Saturday Night” while Dr. John ambles in and strides right on “”Qualified” and Paul Shaffer wails on “Sex Machine.” Joe Louis Walker gets bluer than blue on “Don’t Go No Further”  while Matt Murphy makes the guitar strings beg for mercy. All throughout, Cropper slugs out earthy chords set to boogalooing the night away. Blue collar joys.
