Breathy alto saxist Maciej Obara delivers a rewarding collection of post bop originals with a communicative team of himself with Dominik Wania/p, Ole Morten Vagan/b and Gard Nilssen/dr. For the most part, he lets his warm alto speak volumes, as on the spacious “Ula,” reflective “One For” and dreamy “Storyteller.” The horizon get a bit ominous as Nilssen’s cymbals guide through the fog on “Joli Bord” and the team goes from nimbus clouds to thunder on the dramatic “Echoes” while the title piece is filled with fragrant themes and a peaceful cadence. 21st Century Johnny Hodges.
