Pianist 
Garth Alper leads a rich and upbeat post bop band of Michael Jenner/sax, Bob Nash/b, Chris Munson/dr and Jeff George/g through a mix of originals and a couple of standards. His touch is warm and bouncy as on the optimistic “Celia” and flows well with Jenner’s soprano sax on the samba’d “Stratus.’ The team gets angular on the kinetic “Off Kilter” and both George and Jenner on tenor get bluesy during the easy swing of “Out of the Woods” while the team gets hip and Monkish on the fun “Catharsis.” Excellent modern feel.
