Lori Bell and Ron Satterfield mix guitar, flutes and voice on this gorgeous duet album focusing on various hues of the 4th color of the rainbow. The idea carries well throughout the album, mixing and matching C and alto flutes with guitar and Satterfield’s flexible voice. Bell joyfully flutters on her own “Bell’s Blues” and creates an exotic mood on “Istanblue.” The team sounds sly during McCoy Tyner’s “Blues on the Corner” and gets as hip as all get out on Oliver Nelson’s jagged “Teenie’s Blues.” Satterfield’s guitar work is sublime as he picks and sings on t funky take of “Blue in Green” and is dreamy yet dramatic on Joni Mitchell’s “Blue.” A productive Blue Period.
