Guitarist Santi Costanzo uses h is guitar and writing skills to create some rich abstract musical paintings with Fabio Tiralongo/fl-ss-ts, Carlo Cattano/fl-bs and Alessandro Borgia/dr. The lack of a bass puts extra pressure on Borgia, and he’s up to the task, providing a funky beat for the herky-jerky”Audire Aude!” , plodding the team of woodwinds along on the thick “Lai” and driving the team with a whip on “Milea.” Costanzo’s guitar work is thoughtful on the solo “Prologo” and teams up with the wispy flute to excellent effect on “Epilogo” while dashes of Thelonious Monk are thrown in on the quirky “Ziqqurat.” Free and loose, but still coherent.
