The hard hitting team of Rott’n Dan/voc-harp, Yuji Ihara/g, Nigel Gale/b, Emmet VanEtten/dr and Chad Holtzman/g throw a rocking party with guests MarcArnould/B3 and a hip horn section on this loud but proud collection. The shuffle is off to Buffalo hear as the Hammond and Horns go from a disco inferno on “Players Blues” to a boogie till you puke “Shaker Down Below.” The band gets into a 70s Foghat vibe on “Foolish Mind” and “Let’s Get Randy,” while even a bit of Delaney and Bonnie get rural on “Hard to Tell You” with a simmering B3. All through, Dan’s voice is gravel rough, chewing up and spitting out the lyrics, and having a rocking good time.
