Joe Fiedler brings his trombone and composing skills together with a team of Jeff Lederer/ts-ss, Pete McCann/b, Fob Jost/b and Michael Sarin/dr for a heavy hitting session. The post bop pieces show lots of muscle, as McCann’s guitar and Lederer’s tenor flex well on “Go Get It” and the title track. MaCann and Jost get edgy as the leader slides like Lou Brock on “Maple Avenue Tango” and “ Guiro Nuevo” as Sarin drives the team like a scene from Red River on “Yinz” and the jagged “Tuna Fish Cans.” Lots of strong pulses are palpable here.
