The Swiss Youth Jazz Orchestra is caught in concert at the Jazzaar Festive in April 16, 2016. Special guests for the show include Oli Rockberger/voc-key, Frank Greene/tp, Tony Lakatos/ts, Marques Young/tb Neil Jason/b and Billy Cobham/dr. The team sounds funky on Cobham’s “Red Baron” and Joe Zawinul’s “Mercy Mercy Mercy” and some hip keyboards give a CTI feel to “Afro Blue.” Some bluesy bop are produced on “My Old Life” and there’s a palpable earnestness to Oli Rockberger’s “Ridiculous.” The horns produce a wallop on this toe-tapper of a gig.
