The songbooks from North and South America are explored by vocalist/bassist Gabriel Espinosa and Tierney Sutton. The core supporting team of Misha Tsiganov/p, Mauricio Zottarelli/dr and Espinosa-Gustavo Amarante-Joe Martin/b is supplemented by Itai Kriss’ flute as he floats with Sutton on “Close To You” and Jim Seely’s trumpet on a sweet and upbeat “The Look of Love.” Espinosa’s rich bodied vocals feel passionate on the upbeat “Adoro” and are classy with flugelhorn support on”Somos Novios.” While Hendrik Murkens’ harmonica glides on the thoughtful “Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” and the sighing “Como Yo Te Ame.” Sophistication and sensuous optimism are present in both hemispheres.
