OYE! Roberto Fonseca: ABUC

Pianist Roberto Fonseca continues is branching out from the Buena Vista Social Club and delivers here a knockout punch filled with more sparks than the exhaust pipe of a 57 Chevy. He shows his solo chops on a riveting and irresistible read of “Cubano Chant” while the full band version with horns ,percussion and a guest appearance by Trombone Shorty make the walls shake.

Extroverted vocals are delivered by guests Dayme’ Arocena, Carlos Calunga, Rafel Lay and Roberto Espinosa Rodriguez, with Lay wearing brass knuckles on “Family.” Eliades Ochoa delivers a passionate guajiro on “Tumbao de la Unidad” , and the entire album will get you on the dance floor pieces like the infectious “Afro Mambo.” Fonseca dares you to sit still!
