Swedish-Turkish tenor saxist Ilhan Ersahin delivers eleven originals of post-bop jazz with a flexible team of Alp Ersonmez/b, Izzet Kizil/perc and Turgut Alp Bekoglu/dr. The songs themselves have a free spirit about them, feeling almost spontaneous as on “The Calling” and “Studio 54.” Ersahin’s tone is dry and dark, weaving through the rhythm on “McCoy” an d”Senin Icin Geldim” sometimes working with harmonics as on “Pra Gato.” Almost subliminal in delivery, the quartet focuses on interplay and communication, not too pre-occupied with tight melodies.
