Left of center trombonist Roswell Rudd teams with a free form group of Jamie Saft/p, Trevor Dunn/b and Balazs Pandi/dr for a wild and wooley collection of conversant originals.
Rudd’s horn is in excellent shape throughout, moaning and teetering on the see sawing “Luminescent.” He squawks and growls while the rhythm team batters around like a square off between Roadrunner and Wily E. Coyote on the swirling “Cobalt Is A Divine.” The sounds start reflectively on the title track just before some quirky pulses quickly take you on a cataclysmic pounding with Pandi and Saft. The piano starts Monkishly on “Dunn’s Falls” before things get eerie with some strummed strings, and the last thing you’ll want to do is to “get a room” with all of the mayhem on “The Bedroom.” A Street Fight named Desire.
