Guitarist Doug MacDonald has been one of the most consistent, if undersung, guitarist around. He’s got a warm and clean tone, and for this “solo” album he gives shows what an orchestra of one can do. H does some rich countermelody on “You Stepped Out of A Dream” while giving a demonstrations of understating mind boggling technique on “Wave.” He also has some fun with overdubbing as on “Umbrella Waltz” he brings in a bass guitar, “Laura” adds a six string banjo and “Bandera” includes a nylon string guitar. Through it all, its class all the way; intimate, inherently swinging and rich in ideas.
