Pat Daugherty/key-voc, Aaron Comess/dr and Richard Hammond/b form the New York Electric Piano trio. This clever album is roughly divided into funky electric instrumentals and songs with messages with lyrics provided by mellow-toned Daugherty. Of the former, there’s a hip 70s CTI funk feel on “Reboot” and the title track, with electric pianos and synth sounds slithering around Comess’ infectious backbeat. Daugherty delivers a thoughtful and heartfelt message against apathy on “Party On” and touches on other subjects that are looking for solutions on “One Day.” A successful and winning mix of viscera with grey matter that come together, right now, over me.
