Tom Csatari brings together a team of RJ Miller/dr, Cam Kapoor/g, Levon Henry/reeds, Adriel Williams/vio and Ross Gallagher/b as he brings in his songs, arrangements, guitars and attitude on a mix of originals and a handful of covers. The team is loose and flexible with long undulating themes, sometimes wandering and other times meandering on the stretched out “Uncivilized” and “Water Park Rodeo” mixing ambience with off the cuff moments as on “New Boots” and “Rowlings II”. Extra woodwinds are added by Kyle Wilson, Tristan Cooley and Ben Katz on “Elder Bells” and “NOLAN” that mix free flying ideas on the reeds and flexible environs. There’s a take of Lee Morgan’s “Search For New Land” that is almost subliminal, while Thelonious Monk’s “Light Blue” has a happy bounce along with Henry’s horn. Williams’ violin brings a folksy flair into the atmosphere, while the moods get a sort of “let’s try this” attitude on “El Morrisony” and “Kingsnorth.”
