Anton Fig: Figments

Anton Fig takes control with a plethora of instruments by himself as he does drums, programming, guitar and bass along with a rotating guest of artists that include randy Brecker/fh, Richard Bona/b, Chris Spedding/g and Ronnie Cuber/bs. The moods and styles vary on this collection of concise tunes. . You get impressive percussion along with Mo Gee’s flute on “Home” and Ivan Neville’s gritty vocals are a plus on “Inside Out.” Kaleidoscopic sounds veer in and out with Chris Palmero’s organ on “Know Where You Go” and some exciting flamenco guitar is felt with Richie Havens’ vocals on “More Than Friends. “ A gospel choir gets serious on “When The Good Die You” but the mood changes quickly as Oz Noy hits the strings hard with Palmero on a heavy metal “KWYG II.” Through it all, Fig is juicy and ripe on drums.
