Thomas Bergeron: Sacred Feast

Thomas Bergeron plays trumpet & flugelhorn hear as well as arranging the music inspired by classicist Olivier (1908-1992). The band consists of Bergeron with Becca Stevens/voc, Jason Ennis/g, Vitor Goncalves/p-acc, Hannah Collins/cel, Michael Bates/b and Satoshi Takeishi/perc through material that ranges from lyrical and funky groves suchas “To Fabircate Unknownness” to eerie and atmospheric sounds as on “Pourquoi?”. Goncalves’ accordion adds bohemian atmospheres to Stevens’ voice on”The Smile” while creating sepia shadows on”Vocalise.”A bluesy groove gets assertive for Bergeron’s horn on the bopping “Ecstasy in a Sad Landscape” while his horn teams with Ennis’ guitar for a lovely “One Querying Wave…”, making for a mix between modern classical and jazz. Intriguing and intellectual with a subtle sense of swing.
