Lots of guitar strings go back and forth here as Pete Oxley and Nicolas Meier go from nylon, steel, acoustic, fretless, jazz and even to middle eastern strings on this easy to digest disc. Folksy swing is felt on “The Followers” and “Bluster” while hints of Gershwin pop up on”Breezin’ On.” The strings are able to dance as on “Compass Points” or get a little percussive on the bluesy “The Bridge” while dark and dramatic hues are evident on “ Chasing Kites.” The strings are fresh and clean sounding, whether strummed, stroked, picked or plucked. A trip to the middle east on “Uzun Ince Bir Yoldayim” closes the set which takes you from the back porch of Tennessee to a night club in Tel Aviv.
