Elina Duni Quartet: Dallendyshe

With an icy cool voice and luminous support by Colin Vallon/p, Patrice Moret/b and Norbert Pfammatter/dr, Elina Duni produces warm Mediterranean moods and rhythms on this soft and alluring session. Her glassy tone is a perfect contrast, similar to a glowing full moon over a Bedouin desert, as Middle Eastern and Greek rhythms gently rumble underneath her lyrics on “Kur Te  Pashe” and “Ylberin.” Her delivery is almost liturgical with the Spartan support on “Delja Rude” while an almost Byzantine drone delivers audio scents of burnt candles on “Taksirat” and “Nene Moj.” The rustling drums and bass underneath her palpably tender lyrics on “Une do te Vete” works as a meditative wonder, making this an Orthodox  stain glass window of sonic effects.
