Here’s a lady that has a high slugging percentage with the alto and bari sax. Lisa Parrott forms a tight infield with Matt Wilson/dr, Chris Lightcap/b, Carl Dewhurst/g and designated hitter Nadje Noorduis/tp (for a couple at bats) on this hip collection of clean singles and doubles.
On alto, the team sounds semi-loose on “Rosa Takes a Stand” but can get into a canter around the infield on the swinging “Dancing Laughing.” Some nimble drum work by Wilson goes around the horn like a double play on the tricky “D.Day” and a little lating lilt floats like a knuckler on “Um A Zero.” With the baritone she plods along like a middle reliever on “Do You Think That I Do Not Know” and chirps along with Dewhurst on the rising fastballer “I Don’t Know That.” Parrott closes with Noorduis on a clever call, taking “Waltzing Matlida” for a ride that has the swagman jumping. Good call on the post bop front, cleaning the bases.
