This cd-dvd captures the rocking and bluesy J. Geils band back in 1979, and they knew how to throw down a show! Vocalist Peter Wolf’s voice is in gritty form, Magic Dick’s harp is howling and J. Geils himself has the boogie blues throughout this hour long concert. You’ve got reggae’d hits likle “Give It To Me” and gospel rocking like “Looking For A Love” but for the most part it’s lots of hard hitting material like “Whammer Jammer” and “Wild Man.” These guys work with blue collar values, giving their all and sounding like a frat band on the closing “First I Look At The Purse.” They get the fists pumping all night, with little chance for nuance, but lots of space for kicking out the jams.
