Nathan Parker Smith puts together a big band that sounds like it wants to be heavy metal Metallica when it grows up. Five reeds, four trumpets, four trombones and a four piece rhythm section creates thunderous sounds that thud and pound like a Mastodon on “Mega” and”Interstellar radiation Field.” You get eerie effects and crashing sounds on “Fog Over East” just before distorted guitar slashings and flailing drumming throws you against the wall on “Creature Rebellion.” If Black Sabbath was an orchestra, it would sound like “Build and Destroy”. “Carrington Super Flare” ends the disc with the subtlety of the Enola Gay.
