This is the kind of Christmas album I like. Take the season, and the add some local seasoning! He brings together the Revue of Derek Douget/ts-ss, Jason Marshall/bs, Vincent Gardner/tb, John Chin/p, Peter Harris/b Adonis Rose/dr Ronald Markham/p and Michael Watson/voc for some great full band takes of “O Christmas Tree” and “Silent Night” that mix Professor Longhair and Second Line marches. Mayfield’s horn is warm and glittering like snowflakes on “The Christmas Song” and “ Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” while “Winter Wonderland” is a fun honky tonk. Gotta love this one! Put some crayfish in that stuffing!
