Viper Mad Trio: Buddy Bolden’s Blues

Filled with plenty of attitude and fun, the Viper Mad Trio of Molly Reeves/g-v, Ryan Robertson/tp-v and Kellen Garcia/b-v delves into the roots of pre-swing music with a steady two beat bringing you back to the days of Storyville.

Reeves has a voice that sounds like a sassy treatment of Madeleine Peyroux, with streetwise renditions of “Buddy Bolden’s Blues” and “Shorty’s Got To Go” feeling like female take of Tom Waits. The irresistible lilt and lyrics of pieces such as “Just Squeeze Me” or “I’m Confessin’ That I Love You” sound positively timeless, while the tongue in cheek “Hot  Nuts” and “ I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles” sound more ironic than iconic. Custom made for the annual New Orleans Jazz Festival.
