Vocalist Lizzie Thomas has a bright and clear delivery on this collection of standards with a mixture of trios, duets and small group performances. The mix of horns works as a frame to surround and also coax Thomas on crisp pieces such as “One Note Samba” and “You Do Something To Me.” She gets quite peppy on a clever take of “I Only Have Eyes For You,” but with most confident singers, she sounds best when the support is sparse. With pianist Xavier Davis, she ruminates over “Easy To Love” very effectively and on the closing “Our Love Is Here To Stay” her duet with bassist Yoshi Waki makes you beg for more of the same. Confidence is portrayed well here.
