Consisting of Clay Ross/g-v, Rob Curto/acc-v, Rob Hecht/fid, Skip Ward/b, Richie Barshay/dr and Ze’ Mauricio/perc, the band Matuto delivers festive music that is part Mardi Gras, part Cajun and even a part South American with dashes of Brasilia. The music like “Toca O Sino” is festive while a jamming “Tears” even includes some exciting vocals by Indian Aiofe O’Donovan. A bit of Southern folk pops in as well on “Horse Eat Corn” and the mix of fiddle, accordion and guitars deliver a modernized take on music that has made people celebrate in the streets since Jefferson bought some land from Napoleon.
